I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
My husband and I have recently gotten into pickleball and we often play when my in-laws take the kids for the day. With four kids, we don’t often get time alone, so we want to make these day dates/date nights as meaningful as possible. It’s helpful, then, for us to find a place where we can enjoy lots of activities, and this is where Aces Pickleball + Kitchen comes in. This unique destination in Norwood, Ohio, seems to have been designed with us in mind. It has a full-service bar, farm-to-table restaurant, and tons of pickleball courts, making it the ultimate date destination for older millennials like us.
My husband and I are unabashed pickleball fans and while we normally play at our neighborhood court, it's nice to have options -- especially *indoor* options, as the weather in Ohio is known for its unpredictability.
Luckily, a pickleball court just opened near Cincinnati that's not *just* a pickleball venue, but also a restaurant, bar, dog park, event space, and family-friendly destination!
Welcome to Aces Pickleball + Kitchen, an awesome complex that offers an all-in-one, inclusive and accessible experience for pickleball pros, casual players, and, well, pretty much anyone else.
Aces opened in June 2023 in Norwood, Ohio, and has quickly made a name for itself not *just* for its world-class pickleball courts (there are 11: five indoors, five outdoors, and one four-season court with a covered roof), but also for its family friendliness.
Because in addition to offering open play, lessons, and leagues for pickleball players of all ages and abilities, Aces also offers non-pickleball recreation such as corn hole and ping pong *and* an epic dog park.
When it comes time to dine (pickleball works up quite an appetite!), the on-site restaurant is worth the trip alone. Using locally sourced produce, proteins, and breads (Blue Oven Bakery, 80 Acres, and Buckhead Meat are all represented on the menu), there's something for every palate and dietary preference here.
While you certainly can't go wrong with a classic burger and fries, the smoked turkey club is a sleeper hit; it's the perfect balance of juicy meat and crispy veg.
Prefer something fresh-from-the-tap? Beer enthusiasts have a lot of options here, but I recommend anything from Fretboard -- their seasonal varieties are always delicious and refreshing!
It's rare to find a place that checks all the boxes -- perfect for singles, couples, friends, families, and furry BFFS; loads of recreation; an amazing restaurant and full-service bar -- but Aces Pickleball + Kitchen most certainly does. Whether you're into pickleball or not, this destination is, well, aces!
Did you know about this unique destination in Norwood? Aces Pickleball + Kitchen is an awesome place for an all-inclusive date with your favorite person — or perhaps a double date with another couple so y’all can play doubles! Paddles up!
