Ohio’s small towns come alive in the summer months with some of the most unique (not to mention delicious) festivals. In fact, if you keep track of them, you could keep yourself busy all summer. There’s one summer festival, however, you simply can’t afford to miss this year. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of man’s journey to the moon, the Summer Moon Festival in Wapakoneta is more than worthy of your bucket list.
Here’s why you don’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind festival:
Welcome to Wapakoneta, the proud hometown of astronaunt and first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong.
While this claim to fame is impressive, there's so much more to this small Ohio town. From the backyard museums to the local restaurants, this town is full of hidden gems.
Each year in July, the town gathers together to celebrate the monumental moment when man walked on the moon. This year's Summer Moon Festival takes place on July 17 - 20.
Downton Wapakoneta comes alive with a massive street party for four days and nights. There will be games, food, live entertainment, an antique car show, river boating and even the World's Largest MoonPie.
While you're visiting, be sure to check out all the local shops and restaurants, as there will be all kinds of fun specials, such as City Bakery's Moon Rocks.
