Ohio is a magical place to be a kid, full of places that inspire the imagination and stoke the wanderlust of even the littlest explorers. Just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio, Highfield Discovery Garden is a fairytale-themed playground that’s pure wonder and whimsy and a delightful day trip for Ohioans young and old!
Highfield Discovery Garden is quite possibly the most magical place in Ohio. This straight-from-a-fairytale playground is full of whimsy and wonder, sure to get your kids excited about the great outdoors.
Located within Cincinnati's Glenwood Gardens, you’ll enter Highfield Discovery Garden through the doors of the Visitors Center (which itself looks like a building from Hansel and Gretel).
The path diverges; you can either head straight for the Garden Workshop (where classes are held), or down the steps for a wondrous trek through fairy worlds, sleeping dragons, and wizardry.
The Trolley Garden, for example, is an outdoor train that runs along tracks built on tree branch bridges and tree trunk tunnels. There are trains everywhere: running above adults’ heads and down within kids’ reach.
This enchanting Ohio playground is always making things more magical, too. A seasonal indoor train display made the holidays pure magic for Ohio kids, while the new Sound Garden invited children to make music on larger-than-life instruments and perhaps perform a show on the stage.
Highfield Discovery Garden is a little bit like being in Alice in Wonderland. On one hand, there are larger-than-life mushrooms and treehouses, which make you feel very small. On the other hand, the kid-sized houses (perfect for kid-sized tea parties) will make your kids feel so big. This is a magical playground in Ohio worth checking out with your kiddos!
