Contrary to what you might think, Ohio is home to some really beautiful waterfront towns. The small town of Huron is a gorgeous lakeside town that’s somewhat of a hidden gem to Ohioans not from the area. If you find yourself in northern Ohio this summer, you need to take a day and visit this quaint Lake Erie town.

You'll definitely want to visit Nickel Plate Beach will you're here. It's one of Ohio's best little-known Lake Erie beaches that's perfect for a quiet beach day.
You'll find it on Nickel Plate Drive, just off of Tiffin Avenue. Note: There is a $5 parking fee and Beach Water Quality Testing is conducted by Erie County Health Department, with results posted on Erie County Health Department Beach Monitoring website under "Huron River East."
With lighthouses that were initially built in the mid-1800s, the small city of Huron prides itself in its Great Lakes history.
