There’s nothing like biting into a sweet, juicy berry, and it’s even better when it’s fresh-picked from the farm! There’s a beautiful little berry farm right here in Ohio where you can pick your own strawberries and several varieties of raspberries all summer long. Check out Mitchell’s Berries:
Welcome to Mitchell's Berries! The Mitchell Family Farm was founded in 1814, and five generations later it's still going strong.
Six acres of U-pick strawberries, raspberries, and edamame await! Gather up your friends and family and head to this beautiful farm for a day of berry picking.
The strawberries are first to arrive on the scene in the middle of May. The strawberry picking season is short, and it's already over for 2019, so make plans to pick these juicy red gems next spring.
The first raspberries ripen in June, and you'll want to start visiting the farm regularly so you don't miss any of the five varieties that ripen throughout the summer.
The farm grows red, black, and purple raspberries. Start picking Jewells, a glossy, black raspberry, in June, then move on to the Mac Blacks, Royalty, Nova, and Carolines all the way through September.
Once picked, berries only last about three days, assuming you don't eat them all before then! Plan to visit the farm several times throughout the summer to keep fresh berries stocked up in your kitchen for sweet, summer snacks.
Berry picking is a great way to spend time with your kids, and make some special summer memories. Get some fresh air and enjoy some time away from television, video games, and the stress of everyday life.
Visit Mitchell's Berries Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and give the farm a call to check on berry availability at 937-243-0635.
Learn more on the Mitchell’s Berries website, and make sure to follow the farm’s Facebook page to see what’s happening there today. Does this look like an adventure you’d like to take? Tag the friends and family members you want to bring with you!
