I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
Ohio is home to some of the biggest and best attractions in the country. We have well-known amusement parks and world-famous roadside attractions. We have awesome museums and acclaimed zoos. We have hidden gems, too; places that are delightful to discover and impossible not to love. The Rosenthal Education Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, is one such place. Tucked inside the Cincinnati Art Museum, this unique attraction in Ohio is an immersive experience for kids that offers hands-on fun in a space that’s typically *not* hands on for kids.
The Cincinnati Art Museum is an acclaimed institution that's highly regarded for its incredible collection and historic relevance. It's one of the oldest arts institutions in the United States and houses a collection of more than 67,000 works of art that represent 6,000 years of human creativity.
Most parents will tell you, however, that an art museum isn't exactly "kid" material. "No running," "No touching," "No yelling," are common refrains from parents in the corridors of most art museums. But not the Cincinnati Art Museum... at least not the Rosenthal Education Center.
Located on the first floor of this Ohio museum, the Rosenthal Education Center (REC) is a colorful and exuberant space for hands-on learning and creativity.
Twice a year, the space gets a makeover from a new artist in residence, whose works adorn the walls and whose style informs the programming and activities at the REC.
Happily, the REC is as accessible for families of all ages; there’s a comfy toddler area where little cruisers can explore, and lots of nearby stations for older siblings to enjoy more age-appropriate experiences. I've been to the REC many times with my kids, and I'm always in good company among other parents, grandparents, and caregivers.
The REC at the Cincinnati Art Museum has its doors wide open for such hands-on, tactile interactions with art. And the best part? Visiting this hidden gem in Ohio is always free!
Did you know about this family-friendly space within the Cincinnati Art Museum? The Rosenthal Education Center is a must-visit destination for budding artists in Ohio!
