Ohio may be located in the middle of the country, but that doesn’t make it entirely landlocked. There are actually many gorgeous waterways throughout the state — including Lake Erie, one of the country’s Great Lakes! That means the state is a haven for kayaking, and kayaking is a great way to see Ohio in a new light. Here’s one of our favorite trails.

There are many Lake Erie Islands water trails, and they all show you a new side of the area.
Our favorite trail is probably the Mainland Trail.

You can kayak up to 30 miles on this trail, which takes you to a variety of spots within the Lake Erie Islands.
You get to see Lake Erie, Sandusky Bay, Kelleys Island and South Bass Island on this trail.

It starts at Catawba Island State Park and ends at Marblehead Lighthouse.
