I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
There are lots of great options for day trips in Ohio, and lots of great options for overnight getaways in Ohio. There are fun, engaging, and historic museums in Ohio, delicious dining spots, and themed eateries in Ohio. But a place that combines all of these things — day trip swagger, overnight accommodations, unique attractions, and delicious dining? This sounds like the most amazing adventure ever, and you can have it, right here in Ohio, at the historic Sauder Village.
Picture a sweet place where you can enjoy a step back in time; a real-life historic village (is that an oxymoron?) that's an easy day trip from pretty much anywhere in Ohio.
What is there to do here? What *isn't* there to do here? Visit the Historic Village to enjoy engaging stories, demonstrations, and fun activities while exploring historic homes, barns, gardens, and craft shops.
Stroll down Main Street and take a peek at what’s playing in the theater, grab penny candy at an old-timey general store, sip a chocolate malt at the soda fountain, meet horses at the livery, and explore the bank, fire station, car dealership, and barbershop.
When you get hungry from exploring, break for a meal at Barn Restaurant, Sauder Village's very own casual dining spot. There is also a delightful bakery in the "downtown" area that makes amazing homemade pies.
The fun doesn't have to stop at the end of the day, either. On-site accommodations include the Sauder Heritage Inn, a beautiful country lodge, as well as a brand-new 87-site campground complete with RV hookups, a bathhouse, and access to the inn's pool.
History isn't something that's relegated to the past; rather, it's continually unfolding as we live and breathe. Sauder Village is a place that celebrates history, and invites guests to come and live it in the most delightful way!
Have you visited this historic village in Ohio before? What an amazing adventure in the Buckeye State! Please note that certain attractions in the village are only open seasonally, so be sure and peruse the Sauder Village website before you go.
