One of the most iconic sitcoms of all time, “Cheers” and its catchy theme song has become an anthem for neighborhood bars across the country. Because, really, what’s better than enjoying happy hour with a bunch of your friends, in a cozy environment where, yes, everybody knows your name? At Ugly Duck in Wooster, Ohio, that’s certainly what you’ll find. The only catch? The bar jokingly calls itself “the friendliest little pub you’ve never heard of” — and so today, I’m giving this delightful local pub its 15 minutes.

Ugly Duck opened its doors in 2009, featuring a menu of amped-up, scratch-made pub fare that also highlighted locally and seasonally sourced products... in other words, *not* the kind of frozen-fried fare served at your standard local bar!
Think of the menu at Ugly Duck as standard pub grub, but taken to the next level and infused with spunk and spice. Burgers often feature extras like mushrooms, house-made sauces, and a melange of melty cheeses.
Ugly Duck also regularly features only-in-Ohio specials such as their Lake Erie walleye bites, which are a major crowd pleaser. After ordering this seasonal special, regular, old fish sticks will never taste the same!
I'm a sucker for sweet potato fries -- if they're on the menu, I'm in! Crispy and light, these fries do not disappoint and are the perfect accompaniment to a burger or salad.
The pub has also garnered quite a reputation for its tacos, proclaiming "Taco Day" to Facebook followers on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or any of the other days of the week that calls for tacos and cerveza.
