Autumn is the most magical time of the year to take a hike in Ohio. (Be sure to check out this list of trails for spectacular fall color.) Even after much of the state’s foliage has peaked, the fall color at Shawnee State Park in southern Ohio lingers for another week or two. If you’re looking for a trail that still features plenty of yellows, reds and oranges, consider taking the Lookout Trail at Shawnee State Park in West Portsmouth, Ohio.
Right across the street from Roosevelt Lake within Shawnee State Park, you'll find a scenic trail that's perfect for a short day hike.

Peak time for Shawnee State Park fall foliage is late October and early November, so even if it's late in the season, there will likely be plenty of fall color.
