State Road Covered Bridge contains 97,000 feet of southern pine and oak and was erected in 1983 across the Conneaut Creek. The 152-foot-long bridge features the town lattice span design.

In beautiful Hueston Woods, you'll find this stunning covered bridge in Ohio, which features a six-foot pedestrian walkway on each side for easy and safe access.
3. Teegarden Covered Bridge (Columbiana County)

This winsome-covered bridge crosses Little Beaver Creek on Eagleton Road near Salem. It was built in 1876 and is currently only open to pedestrian traffic. It's one of our favorite covered bridges visit in thefall in Ohio.

Marietta's Hills Covered Bridge is absolutely lovely, and one of only nine remaining covered bridges in Washington County (there used to be 50!).

6. Rinard Covered Bridge (Washington County)

Caine Covered Bridge has the distinction of being the first Pratt truss bridge in Ohio and was built in 1986 to honor Ashtabula County's 175th Anniversary. The 124-foot-long bridge traverses the west branch of the Ashtabula River.

What are some of the oldest covered bridges in Ohio?

The covered bridges in Ohio are such interesting structures. There’s a sort of simplicity about them, and they’re honestly marvels of engineering in their own right. The cover on these bridges prolongs their lifespan to five times that of an uncovered bridge! While dates can be a bit hazy with these historic old structures, here is what we do know:

  • The Newton Falls Covered Bridge is considered to be the second oldest in the state, eclipsed only by one in Eaton built in 1829.
  • The Eaton Bridge is just barely older than its competitor in Newton Falls. The really interesting thing about the Eaton Bridge is that it has been moved from its original location, and though it is still spanning the same creek, it is now in a public park.
