Every so often, you have to make a getaway. Work piles up around you and you need a break from the stress. Sometimes, the mundanity of everyday life begins to grate on your nerves. Clevelanders are fortunate that, no matter their situation, there are plenty of surrounding communities and counties that offer an escape from the routine. Whether you’re on the East Side or the West, there’s a nearby town that’s worth escaping to. No matter where you are in Cleveland, you’re always just a short drive from the splendor of the more rural surrounding counties. Today, we’re heading into Wayne County to explore a community that’s overflowing with culture and beauty.
If you haven't visited Wooster in recent years, you'll be surprised to see just how much its milieu has changed.
As the county seat of Wayne County, it is no surprise that this city of nearly 25,000 is the largest in the area. This is a town with deep historical roots, but also a burgeoning modern culture that's full of energy.
Wooster is a community where cars and horse and buggies share the roadway, and both tourists and locals partake in area festivities and attractions.
The College of Wooster attracts young people to this once-rural community, further fueling its boutique shopping opportunities and quaint attractions. While lovely year-round, Ramseyer Farms is a local spot that draws visitors from all around the state each fall, as its unique corn mazes, baby goats, pumpkin patch, and hayrides combine the highlights of the season in a magical way.

As you drive through the area, you'll be treated to landscapes worthy of the big screen.
Parks like Diller Park and Walton Woods offer visitors rustic hiking and fishing opportunities to adventurous souls, and places like Christmas Run Park offer family-friendly outdoor activity. After you've taken in some spectacular views, it's worth swinging by Pine Tree Barn for some additional beauty and killer views at their Granary Restaurant.

While you're in town, your lodging options include both hotels and cozy B&Bs.
The Market Street Inn, located in Downtown Wooster, is a gorgeous landmark from 1897. Its original word work throughout its six guest rooms enchant visitors and take them back to an era of elegance. A full breakfast is offered daily, fixed up with local ingredients and a feature scone.
Cleveland's Playhouse Square may be one of the largest performing arts centers in the nation, this theater could easily fit into its energetic atmosphere. At this fully-staged and fully-orchestrated theater, both classic and groundbreaking shows captivate audiences from near and far.
While this community may be an energetic and ever-evolving city, it still retains an incredible historic atmosphere.
Wooster is an enigmatic community. It's both rural and modern, forward-thinking and traditional - all at the same time. It's significantly different than anywhere near Cleveland and is well worth the trip. Each visit is unique!
This city has a culture that provides a stark contrast to the one that Clevelanders are familiar with, making it an ideal destination for a weekend trip.
