We Clevelanders share a great many traits. From our admiration of natural landscapes to our friendliness and hardworking attitudes, there is much that binds us together as a community. We also share similar frustrations and weaknesses, lending us even more things to bond over. For better or for worse, if you are a Clevelander, be sure to avoid these 10 things.
1. A casual trip to Downtown Cleveland during holidays.
Foot traffic is normally rather heavy on any given day in Cleveland, but crowds gather in great numbers in anticipation of parades and barhopping. If you're there to participate, then right on! But if you're there for a casual outing, then expect detours and a headache.
Speaking of detours and headaches... construction is a word alone with the power to make locals cringe, but encountering it in real life can be an absolute nightmare.
Cleveland is a town full of foodies, and we're absolutely addicted to comfort food. Put us in front of a buffet, like the ones at Berlin Farmstead Restaurant in Millersburg, and we'll eat ourselves into a food-induced coma.
Why is it that Cleveland confections are so darn good? Each local bakery has their own little slice of heaven to offer, causing an individual's self-control to come into question.
If you can avoid driving in the winter, definitely do so. You may be perfectly fine, but other drivers magically forget how to operate their vehicles in the colder months.
We're an "above and beyond" kind of people, and that attitude translates into everything we do. Extreme sports, like the speedy tracks of High Voltage Indoor Karting in Medina, bring out our inner beast. We get pretty competitive...
10. Anywhere near FirstEnergy Stadium before a Browns game.
Speaking of competitive... the Browns have a ginormous and passionate fanbase. Sure enough, things can get a bit nutty at these beloved get-togethers.
As an unofficial addition, the 11th item on this list could be taking ourselves too seriously. We live in a wondrously quirky town, and it’s a super fun place to call home. Some of these activities are too fun to resist, and there’s never a bad time to spoil yourself. How many of these things did you relate to?
