The foodie scene of Greater Cleveland, it seems, grows more and more spectacular each year. New, inventive restaurants are popping up every day, and each has its own “wow factor” hidden on the menu or in its ambiance. While these new restaurants are each unique and worth trying, tried and true local eateries should still be a mainstay into your dining schedule. At one restaurant in nearby Chagrin Falls, you’ll find that its charm is historic, modern, and delicious – all at the same time.
Editor’s Note: After more than a decade, Jekyll’s has closed its doors. The space is now occupied by 17 River Grille, which is still worth a visit! Craving more? Visit some of Cleveland’s newer eateries for an unforgettable experience.
Though it appears chic and modern, Jekyll's Kitchen is built upon the foundation of the Deerlick Oilstone Building from the 1850s.
Located at 17 River St. in Chagrin Falls is one particularly groundbreaking restaurant. This restaurant was destroyed by a fire and rebuilt in the recent past, and it rose like a phoenix out of the ashes of its legacy. Just as creative and beloved, Jekyll's Kitchen is now a rich, warm environment with even more menu options than before.
The area around the kitchen was once fueled by the roaring waters of the Chagrin River, and its magnificent waterfall is still at the center of the village.
Chagrin Falls was laid out in 1837, taking its name from the mighty river that must have enchanted early settlers in the area. It effortlessly evolved into a mill town, hosting sawmills and factories right on the banks of the Chagrin River. The history of this village is still evident, particularly in its bustling downtown area.
Pictured above are the Fresh Truffle Chips, and visitors rave about them. Topped with pecans, sage, balsamic drizzle, and buttermilk blue cheese, these chips are delectably decadent.
