Ever since trains helped communities thrive and increased the accessibility and affordability of coast-to-coast travel in the U.S., people have associated this mode of transportation with adventure – and we rightfully should! Here in the northern half of Ohio, the iron horse and other locomotives have helped change the way we live, and this old-fashioned sense of adventure is rooted in our area’s identity. Few places capture the excitement of the railroad experience quite like this diner located about 80 minutes from Cleveland. It’s totally worth the drive to dine here!
Believe it or not, this is not a working train... it's the Buckeye Express Diner!
The Buckeye Express Diner is located about 80 minutes outside of Cleveland at 810 OH-97 in Bellville. It's overflowing with state pride and it's close enough to home for a delicious day trip.
Diners love digging into their meals in a vintage dining car, and the adjoined steam engine and caboose only add to the overall atmosphere.
The train was towed into Ohio back in 2008, and it has left visitors in awe ever since. Its historic majesty and the wonders of its surrounding landscape make visitors feel like they're on a movie set.
