Is anything more heartfelt than watching the kids and grandkids open toys on Christmas day? The childlike wonder associated with the Christmas season is, in part, what makes it so magical. However, if you live in Northeast Ohio, you can treat the kids to an extra special holiday experience. Each year, Santa sends some of his elves to host a toy-making workshop in Greater Cleveland. Who knew that Santa’s workshop is near Cleveland?! Don your coziest sweaters and prepare for adventure, because this event is one you won’t want to miss.
Lake Metroparks Farmpark is one of the most unique parks near Cleveland.
Located in Kirtland, Ohio, this one-of-a-kind farm has delighted visitors since it opened in 1990. With more than 200 acres, this scenic spot has plenty of space to helps locals reconnect with the area’s agricultural roots.

This destination is both a working farm and a park, and its landscape surprises visitors all year round.
Its barnyard is home to a number of critters, and its fields are lush and vibrant during planting and harvest seasons. Year-round events vary by the season, allowing visitors to help plant, take hayrides, meet Santa, and learn about maple sugaring all in one year.
During this event, children ages 2 through 12 can meet with Santa’s elves and build their very own toy under the experts’ supervision.
During the workshop, the elves handle grown-up tools like drills and power screwdrivers, and the kids work with age-appropriate building materials and paintbrushes.
The fee is $2 per toy with paid Farmpark admission. The park does charge a small admission fee to assist with operating costs. This event is first-come, first-served, so be sure to arrive early in the day. The event usually takes place leading up to and through the final weekend in December. You can find this year’s scheduled dates here.
Of course, you can also explore the Farmpark before and after you check out the toy-building workshop!
There is so much to see and do amidst this unusual landscape. It is open year-round Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., though it is closed on holidays. Who knew such magical holiday fun could be found so close to home?!
This awesome annual event is sure to leave you and the kids inspired! Have you ever visited the Farmpark? We’d love to hear about your experience!
