The Holden Arboretum is a magnificent outdoor learning center and museum. With 3,500 acres, there is much to see here even in the winter. Typically, their collection of 9,400 trees and shrubs claims the spotlight, but springtime is all about the little burst of color poking from the ground. The Holden Arboretum is a springtime wonderland!
Akron is very different than Cleveland, though they're close enough together to exchange ideas and personalities. They're also close enough to offer residents of both municipalities a quick and interesting day trip. Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is arguably Akron's coolest landmark. Built in 1915, this estate-turned-museum is down is gorgeous in the spring. It reopens in April!
Secrest Arboretum is an incredible little landmark in the landscape of Wooster, Ohio. Their epic garden, complete with a hillside slide, is open all year round from dusk to dawn. It's modest at just over 100 acres, but this outdoor laboratory is transcendent.
Outside of the Cleveland Museum of Art and surrounding the sumptuous Wade Lagoon is a garden that's almost otherworldly in its beauty. The Fine Arts Garden sits on land donated to the city in 1882, and its oldest art works date back to the 1920s. Overflowing with Jazz Age charm and international art, this pretty place is a slice of paradise — and it's right in town!

Gardenview Horticultural Park is a lovely plot of land hidden from the hustle and bustle of the city, right off of Pearl Road. This pretty park hearkens back to 1949, and it has aged like a fine wine. Open April through October, this garden offers an incredible way to watch the seasons change.
What is a cemetery doing on a list of places full of life? Well, quite frankly, Lake View Cemetery is a historic garden-style cemetery that is amazingly full of zest. At nearly 300 acres, there's much to see here — particularly in the spring, when flowering trees and Daffodil Hill are in full bloom.
You may know Mansfield for their infamously haunted prison, but it is also home to an incredible estate with flawlessly manicured gardens. Open April through October, Kingwood Center's mansion and gardens are well worth a tour. The Kingwood Center Gardens span a mere 47 acres, but this landscape is nothing short of a work of art.
