Cleveland may be the area’s crown jewel in terms of fun things to do, but the surrounding area hides beauty, local businesses, and fascinating attractions. Today, we’re going to take a road trip to Chesterland, Ohio to explore all that the area has to offer. This Geauga County town is quaint and quiet, boasting a modest number of residents — fewer than 3,000 people live here. Despite its modest population, Chesterland is a small town with a big attitude... and lots to offer.
This area, like much of Northeast Ohio, has historic sites of interest and natural landscapes that visitors and residents alike adore.
The area, originally named after Chester, Massachusetts, was first settled in 1801. Chesterland became its official name in the late 1890s for postal reasons — there's also a Chester, Ohio down in Meigs County!

Clevelanders may best know the area for Patterson Fruit Farm, which is a coveted autumnal attraction.

Finding the perfect pumpkin isn't easy, but this charming local farm produces a cornucopia of stunning fall produce. Of course, their cider is also out-of-this-world good!

However, many don't realize that the farm market is open year-round... and seasonal produce and fresh donuts are always on the menu.
As part of the Geauga Park District, Orchard Hills Park is naturally beautiful. At 237 acres in size, this former golf course is a true treat for the eyes.
One of the best ways to get to know this park is by attending an event, and there's plenty to do in the warmer months.
The Landscaping for Wildlife series is particularly interesting, as this very landscape is slowly being reclaimed by nature. Whether or not you decide to attend an event, you'll love learning about this gorgeous landscape.
Skiers and snowboarders alike are familiar with this super fun ski resort in Chesterland. Some choose to stay at nearby inns to ensure they can visit this awesome resort day after day. It's an incredible weekend trip in its own right!
Of course, some also come to Chesterland hoping for a dose of history... and you might be surprised to learn that it awaits in the great outdoors.

At just one mile, the Interurban Trail at The Rookery isn't too challenging. However, it leads to an interesting historic railway junction that history buffs adore. The area is also home to a nesting colony of Great Blue Heron, so don't be surprised if you spot local flora and fauna during your visit.
At 65 acres, this park is one of the smaller area attractions. You can spot the lovely and recently restored Griswold Creek here, as well as local flora and fauna.
With three trails totaling just one mile, this park is the perfect adventure spot for young families.
