Social media is abuzz with debates on the best flavors of the season. Pumpkin spice and apple cider frequently come to a standoff, but the truth is that both flavors are fantastic and both are plentiful here in Northeast Ohio! However, there’s one other autumnal dish that Ohioans know and love: sweet corn. The rest of the world has yet to acknowledge this as one of the top flavors of fall, but it definitely is. Fortunately, Clevelanders are able to find this delectable local produce at restaurants and farms all across the region. We’re about to explore seven wonders of the Ohio corn world, so prepare your taste buds for a flavorful experience.
The story of this beloved family farm begins in 1931 when the plot started as a traditional veggie farm. After several decades and generations, they changed directions. Now, this farm specializes in sweet corn and surrounds its fields with the support of an epic farmers market. Be sure to swing by on the weekend between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. to pick up some roasted corn on the cob from one of their outdoor eateries.
On Saturday mornings through mid-October, Medina Square is abuzz with festivity. While you could certainly pick up local sweet corn at any farmers market, this one has an especially tasty treat: Medina Salsa Company's Fall Harvest Corn Salsa. Corn is the star of this salsa, each container of which is produced just blocks away from the market.

3. The Chicken Patio (234 Delaware St., Put-in-Bay)
Put-in-Bay is, in actuality, one of the most isolated portions of Northern Ohio. It is, of course, an island, so it is a bit of a journey from its cozy streets to the quaint farmlands that are just slightly down south. However, that distance never stops locals from dishing up incredible local produce. The Chicken Patio is famous for serving up whole meals, many of which come with an ear of corn. It's husked daily, meaning you are truly sinking your teeth into some of the sweetest corn around.
If you are at an event or fair and happen to spot this awesome little foodie paradise, you must swing by. The Shuckin' Shack is Ohio's first crew of artisanal corn roasters, and their corn cobs are masterpieces. Midwestern cuisine has never been so decadent.
5. Urban Farmer Cleveland (1325 E 6th St., Cleveland)
The Urban Farmer is one of Cleveland's finest steakhouses, but they also serve up local cuisine that's simply to die for. Their fresh veggies are perfectly prepared and perfectly paired with an entree, but corn is the subtle star of the show. Whether you're indulging in a creamed corn dinner or munching on a side of corn on the cob, you'll love the flavors of local produce at this beloved area steakhouse.
6. The Nauti Mermaid (1378 West 6th St., Cleveland)
There's nothing like Key West cuisine on West Sixth, but the coastal cuisine isn't the only source of incredible flavor at this enchanting sea shanty-worthy restaurant. Ever had deep fried corn? You haven't lived until you do.
Ever seen a dish as delectable as this? "Esquites," as it is known, is a very popular corn dish in Mexico. However, locals know that Ohio sweet corn makes this dish even yummier. An order at Momocho will just leave you longing for more, but you must try it. They say it's hard to be enojado when you're in Ohio!
Corn is one of the tastiest flavors of fall, and here in Northeast Ohio, it is found in great abundance. Many local destinations offer specialty products featuring local corn, and there’s no better time to indulge than right now.
