Ohio City is an older neighborhood with far-reaching roots. Once upon a time, James A. Garfield preached in this neighborhood before going on to become a U.S. President. John Heisman, a local sports icon whose legacy lives on today, thrived in this community, which he grew up in. The neighborhood’s famous West Side Market has kept Cleveland greats fueled up on clean, local produce over the years . . . and yet, despite all this history, the modern age had a surprise in store for the Ohio City neighborhood: it was to become a trendy entertainment district with the highest concentration of breweries in Cleveland. Today, we’re going to take a virtual visit to one of the area’s newest breweries and, boy, is it trendy.
Columbus residents know and love North High Brewing, but now Clevelanders can get a taste, too.
This brewery first began producing back in 2011, but their operations have expanded significantly over the years. You can connect with them on Facebook to get to know more about their brand and to discover all their locations across Ohio.
North High Brewing just unveiled their first-ever Cleveland taproom in Ohio City, and it's got an incredible vibe.
While most of these drinks are made in Columbus, some barrel-aged brews are prepared locally. You can find their current local offerings on their online beer menu.
Not a beer lover? That's fine . . . there are still plenty of options that will delight your taste buds. Plus, the music is bopping if you stop by in the evening, so you can truly escape from the hustle and bustle of the world beyond during your visit.
They also offer a selection of indulgent comfort food, which includes shareables, tacos, flatbreads, and more.
Pictured here, delicious and freshly baked Bavarian sourdough pretzel sticks are served up alongside North High beer cheese dip. The menu has other small plate options including fries, nachos, and fried pickle chips.
And if you like burgers, oh boy are your taste buds in for a treat.
Don't worry, vegetarian and vegan friends: they have a veggie burger and a jackfruit burger! However, my carnivore diners will also appreciate their selection, from a classically-styled burger to chicken and buffalo chicken options.
So next time you find yourself in Ohio City with a hankering for great food and equally great drinks, keep your eyes peeled for this new dining destination.
Look for North High Brewing at 2814 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, OH 44113.
