Cleveland, Ohio is a magical place. So much so, in fact, that some visitors come from really far out of town for a visit. By that, of course, I mean some of them come from beyond the grave to see our lovely city. One purported ghostly visitor has a particular eye for beauty, so its no wonder that he’d want to swing by Cleveland.

This gorgeous University Circle icon is a nod to the finer things in Cleveland, from our art to the culture our residents have built in the city. This gorgeous museum opened to the public in 1916, and it has hosted some very famous individuals over the years.
...and, in October 2015, it became an otherworldly attraction.

Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse opened October 11, much to the excitement of art aficionados. It brought together three paintings of Monet's water lily pond in Giverny, France for the first time in decades, creating a stunning panorama.
As workers were setting up the exhibit, a certain someone stopped by to watch.

Jeffrey Strean, Director of Architecture and Design, spotted an unusual individual and snapped a photo. Who the man appeared to be absolutely left him speechless.

Who is this man? Many have reported having seen him, but his identity is a mystery. Many have suggested that the visitor is actually the ghost of Claude Monet himself.

Is it possible that Claude Monet himself visited the museum? He wouldn't be the only otherworldly visitor.

William Mathewson Milliken, one of the museum's directors and longtime supporters, has purportedly wandered the halls since his passing in 1978. the famous painting, Portrait of Jean-Gabriel du Theil at the Signing of the Treaty of Vienna, has purportedly been observed by Jean-Gabriel du Theil himself, and other unexplained occurrences frequently take place at the museum.
Perhaps he stopped by to see his artwork continue to please onlookers. Or, maybe the man in the image was merely a coincidental lookalike.

Either way, the Cleveland Museum of Art continues to inspire art lovers with beauty and stories.
