Brunswick Lake Park is part of the Medina County Park District, and it's a real stunner. I love the Medina County Parks... they're much more intimate than the massive Cleveland Metroparks, and they're every bit as beautiful. In these small municipal parks, incredible landscapes are often preserved in the most unassuming places.
As you wander through the park, you'll encounter trees that have stood tall for over two centuries.
Up in The Land, we'd call these Moses Cleaveland trees... trees that might have been standing when Cleveland's founder first set foot in what would become the city. There are many seemingly ancient trees in Brunswick Lake Park, as the landscape was fortunately spared from development as the city grew around it. These ancient giants serve as silent witnesses to the changes that have unfolded around them, providing a unique backdrop for visitors to connect with nature.

While the historic trees are certainly a draw, the centerpiece of Brunswick Lake Park is undoubtedly its picturesque 13.2-acre lake.
A 0.5-mile trail leads out to the lake, and some scenic wooden boardwalks infuse a degree of manmade ambiance. Visitors can indulge in fishing, biking, picnicking, and hiking, or simply bask in the beauty of the shimmering waters.

If you visit the park on a weekend, be sure to swing by the Susan B. Hambley Nature Center.
The Nature Center is open from noon to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, with the exception of Easter, the Fourth of July, Christmas, and New Year's Day (if those holidays fall on a weekend). This hub of knowledge and exploration welcomes guests to delve deeper into the natural wonders that surrounds them, offering crafts, educational exhibits, and more. There's also a stunning viewing area where you can sit back and watch nature from the comfort of a wooden rocking chair.

One of the highlights of the Susan Hambley Nature Center is the chance to interact with indigenous Ohio wildlife. If you're squeamish about frogs and amphibians, you'll be pleased to know that these guys live in glass enclosures and are ready to respect your space. However, they're pretty friendly and interactive from living around humans, so don't be a stranger! Stop by for some air hugs and hisses.
From reptiles to mammals and birds, Brunswick Lake Park hides a surprising array of diversity. With State Route 303 just a parking lot away, you might not expect so many active critters... but they're truly everywhere, and even big animals like deer are common sights.
While the hiking trail is fairly short and sweet, this is an excellent spot to bring binoculars and let the world unfold around you.
I always recommend bringing a picnic to smaller parks, as the landscape often comes to life when you're motionless. Stop and relax along the way... there's plenty to see!
If you're hoping to extend your hike, the Brunswick Lake Trail stretches across a mile of terrain and connects with neighborhoods and the local library.
The Medina County District Library buildings are such a cool place to relax. Each one has its own distinct flair that matches the community it serves, and the Brunswick Library is surprisingly artsy. It's right across the street from the park, so it's an excellent place to warm up if you visit on a chilly day.
