The internet exposes us to new trends and concepts daily, but many of them feel far away. A time-traveling-themed pub that uses vintage devices in its kitchen for authenticity? Cool, but not a local concept. A library-themed brewery full of books that you can borrow at no cost? Believe it or not, there actually is a library bar in Cleveland called Bookhouse Brewing. This fusion of two distinct concepts has resulted in one of the most welcoming spaces anywhere in The Land, and it’s a place that absolutely belongs on your bucket list. Take a look:
Welcome to Bookhouse Brewing, one of the coziest reading nooks in the area.
Bookhouse Brewing is one of the chicest attractions in the Ohio City area, and it fits perfectly with the neighborhood's artistic vibe. It opened its doors in 2018, and visitors are enamored with its atmosphere.
Their "give a book, take a book" rule means every book on the shelves is free for you to borrow... you just need to bring one or two back to keep their shelves full.
Whenever you stop by, it's well worth perusing the titles on their shelves. You never know what you'll find! Plus, they host book swaps on select dates to ensure you always have something inspiring to read.

And the pages of those books are not the only things that tell a story... the beer does, too!
The storied selection at Bookhouse Brewing is always rotating, but you'll find new favorite brews every time you visit. With funky names like Light Out of Darkness Lager and Modern Romance Pilsner, you'll discover eclectic flavors and bold aromas amidst the selection.

Of course, if walls could talk, one could only imagine what these walls would tell about the first on-site brewery.
The historic building was built in 1866 and, believe it or not, it once housed the Jacob Baehr Brewery. For the majority of its operation, Jacob's widow Magdelena operated the brewery as "Cleveland's widow brewer," a title she kept for 28 years. The building ceased being a brewery around 1907 and was actually at risk of being demolished until just before the modern brewery opened.
While such fascinating history makes the inside sitting spots palatable, nothing quite compares to their welcoming patio.
You can rent this space for fundraisers, parties, and other events. Can you imagine getting married here? That would be a downright magical experience... starting a new chapter surrounded by books? Count me in.
There's something for everyone at Bookhouse Brewing, from the excellent food to the rich and delicious beers...
Bring a few friends during your visit... you'll all instantly fall in love with this space. Even if you're bringing a designated driver that's not ordering a beer, they'll enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and vast selection of books.

...And the superabundance of free books makes this local destination so much sweeter.
