There’s nothing like stargazing from the rural communities that surround Cleveland. If you have never found yourself in the countryside at night, you are truly missing out. Without the light pollution of big, bustling cities and crowded highways, the sky lights up with millions of glimmering, gem-like stars. In one petite park in the gorgeous Medina County area, summer nights are the most magical time of year… and you have to see the night sky there to truly believe it.
Letha House Park is a gorgeous little park tucked away in Spencer, Ohio.
This dreamy park features a tributary of the Black River and forested grounds that are straight out of a fairytale. The countryside surrounding the park is quaint and lovely; a true scenic getaway in one of Northeast Ohio's loveliest counties.
The restored wetlands and forested trails are some of the main draws for visitors to the park.
The park is home to a charming observatory operated by the Cuyahoga Astronomical Association, and it is too fascinating and too close to home to not visit.
Since 2001, visitors have gazed up at the heavens from the comfort of this cozy park. Visitors are encouraged to gaze at deep sky objects, and the knowledgeable members of the Cuyahoga Astronomy Association make the entire experience fun and educational.
Mark your calendar for July 14, August 18, September 15, and October 6, 2018, because the observatory opens to the public on these nights.
Bring a flashlight with a red beam if you can, as white light can ruin dark-adapted vision. When the sun goes down, this landscape transforms in the most magical way, and you truly won't want to miss a chance to enjoy it.
While the telescopes are dependent on clear conditions, there will also be fun demonstrations and snacks available to visitors in the park's shelter.
Starry, Starry Nights at Letha House run from 9 to 11 p.m. on select nights, making it a perfect getaway for night owls and those with challenging schedules.

This incredible event and the friendly people that spearhead it will complete your summer. It may feel worlds (or galaxies) away from Cleveland, but Letha House is only a short adventure from home. You’ll never forget a starry summer night like the one you’ll experience at this pretty park!
