Childhood wonders and nostalgia fuel many memories in Northeast Ohio. On bleak, snowy days, there’s nothing quite like consuming media that raised your spirit as a child. Nostalgia-fueled many local businesses and inspired local children, as in the case of Big Fun Toy Store. Just as that great thing had to come to an end, another Northeast Ohio landmark is closing its doors for good – but you still have one more chance to experience its wonders.
When it was founded in 1977, Land of Make Believe set out to inspire kids.
Located at 90 S. Main St. in Hudson, Land of Make Believe is sugar, spice, and everything nice. No matter the child’s (or grownup's) style of collecting or personal way of play, there was something in this magical shop that would leave them delighted.
Today, its eclectic collections have those kids bringing their kids in, and children have been continually delighted by its selection of toys and games.
After more than four decades in business, the masterminds behind this store have fun down to a science. Their shelves are filled with a collection that is unlike any other, and you truly never know what discoveries await your visit.

However, much to the dismay of locals, it will be closing its doors for good very soon.
It will be open January 26th from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on January 27th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Toys will be marked down and furniture and fixtures will also be offered for sale.
On the Land of Make Believe’s farewell Facebook post, hundreds chimed in with memories made at this beloved shop. Grandparents tell of taking their kids and now taking their grandchildren to the store, while others share stories of spending their allowance in the shop when they were growing up. It's plain to see that this wonderland of a store has inspired countless Northeast Ohioans over the years.
And fans have remained local thanks to their unusual selection of goods that rival more familiar stores.
For many, this unique shop made a trip into Hudson truly magical. Kids and adults alike can't help but feel excited when they enter a storefront filled with fun.
Though goods may be waning in its final days, you won't want to miss these sales...
It’s always a shame to see a local business close its doors, particularly when it has operated since 1978. What was your favorite find in this magical shop?
