11 Undeniable Things You'll Find In Every Cleveland Home
There’s a lot to love in Northeast Ohio, but we can’t deny that our way of life has shaped us. From the hot and humid summers on the shore of Lake Erie to commuting through wintery turmoil, we’ve shared many similar experiences. Somehow, this shared way of life has linked our home lives, too, and each recognizable Cleveland home is filled to the brim with familiar objects.

Whether it's just a bottle or a collection of cans, Clevelanders have pop ready for every occasion.

There's nothing like an ice-cold brew that captures the flavors of your region. My personal favorite is Great Lakes' Holy Moses Raspberry White Ale because it is delicious and the label shows the founder of Cleveland parting the waters of Lake Erie. You can't make this stuff up.

If you don't know what this is, then you definitely didn't grow up in Cleveland or anywhere that gets snow in the winter. This writer keeps one in her car at all times (I took it out one year, but then it snowed in May and I learned a valuable lesson) and a backup one in the house... just in case.

Here in Cleveland, temperatures fluctuate from one extreme to another. Immediately after using our ice scraper, we may have a spontaneous 75-degree day in February. Hot days in Ohio are as humid as can be, so an air conditioner of some sort is absolutely necessary.

We're all about slow-cooked comfort foods here, and absolutely everyone has one of these in their homes.

Flypaper is acceptable too, and some of us even have professional bug hunters in the form of dogs and cats. All of these are necessary for Cleveland's summer months.

Think about it: have you ever been in a local home and not spotted one of these? They're perfect for freezing Northeast Ohio winters, and we apparently all know somebody that makes these blankets.

Northeast Ohioans love a good sporting event. We love them so much that even the most casual fans have a bit of gear. From those coats with the weird crinkly fabric (if you don't own one, then you know someone who does) to holiday ornaments, we can't help but decorate with familiar images.

We don't always have time to purchase fresh pierogies at the West Side Market, but we've always got time to throw these bad boys on the stove top.

As if to remind us that we're in Northeast Ohio, locals like to litter their homes with local mementos. Pillows, magnets, blankets, and more depict familiar scenes like the Cleveland skyline or the heart-shaped outline of our state.

Every Clevelander, it seems, have family in the suburbs or elsewhere in the Midwest, and no gathering is complete without this game. Why? The game actually is fun, but we really don't have an explanation for why every Northeast Ohio get-together is completed by the presence of cornhole.
