She has a love of travel and does so frequently, though she believes that home is where the heart is — she continues to work in and around Cleveland as a digital content specialist to this day, working on everything from commercial scripts and social media posts to grassroots marketing initiatives.
Every so often, a piece of literature is so thought-provoking, we can’t help but carry it with us. One story that haunts me — and I don’t even remember its name anymore, to my chagrin — was a required reading piece in a school textbook, perhaps in middle school. It chronicled the experience of an early Italian immigrant in America who was sad because she couldn’t find any pizza. Her young family members researched this strange pizza dish, and it didn’t sound appetizing to them, but they made it for her nonetheless. As it baked, the rich aromas hit them… can you imagine smelling pizza for the first time?! Tasting pizza for the first time? What an incredible moment.
Every so often, I try an incredible Italian restaurant in Greater Cleveland that takes me back to that literary-induced sense of wonder. It’s that moment that makes the taste buds sing… it just takes me right back to childhood, envisioning the awe-struck pause that delicious new foods can prompt. Today, we’re going to visit one pause-worthy restaurant in North Ridgeville that serves massive portions, big enough to let you indulge in their wondrous meals again and again. Hope you’re ready to save room for dessert!
In an unassuming strip mall in North Ridgeville, incredible flavor is waiting to tantalize your taste buds.
Strip malls often quietly hide some of the best food in the area. In North Ridgeville, Nino's Italian Restaurant is one of the many local restaurants you might drive past without realizing it. This one is worth a stop, though... and maybe even a special road trip out to the area!
At first glance, Nino's looks just like any other local restaurant — comfortable, unfussy, and friendly.
While this restaurant's family recipes were once served at W. 130th and Bellaire, the food was brought to its current location in 1990. Ever since then, locals have been raving about it!

Like any good Italian joint, they have the staples: pizza, spaghetti, fettuccine, garlic bread, and more.
But there's even more to experience here, including less familiar dishes like pescatora. From blush pasta to lasagna, everything here is worth writing home about.
Made to order and prepared using old family recipes, this just might be the best Italian food outside of Cleveland's Little Italy.
Let's talk more about that slow-simmered sauce, shall we? Tomato-based sauces at Nino's are simmered for hours, just like Nana used to make. Somehow, you can still taste generations of love baked into every dish. Thoughtfully and passionately crafted, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu!
From family photos to thoughtful centerpieces to melt-in-your-mouth garlic butter prepared in-house, you're going to love your experience. Nino's makes you feel like a member of the family, and you'll likely return time and time again.
If you decide to opt for a starter like minestrone, be warned... you might have to take some of the entrée home!
At restaurants like Nino's, I have a bad habit of overindulging on appetizers and being too full for my entrée by the time it comes out. I love carryout entrées for this reason... you can snack on it bit by bit in the comfort of your own home, slowly chipping away at the massive and delicious portion.
Whatever you do, though, you'll want to save room for dessert.
Five words: Aunt Carmy’s white chocolate cheesecake. Seriously. SO good.
