9 Inexpensive Road Trip Destinations From Cleveland That Won’t Break The Bank

A staycation is comparable to a vacation, except vacationers get the unrivaled opportunity to stay home and sleep in their own bed. This modern style of vacationing allows individuals to explore the wonders of their own region, all while on a budget. If you’re ready to take some time off, sight-see, and then head home to unwind from the comfort of your own abode, there are plenty of incredible (and affordable) road trips awaiting you.
1. Embrace your heritage as an Ohioan and visit a giant cornfield.
Or, more accurately, a field of giant corn statues. This strange attraction is located at 4995 Rings Rd. in Dublin, and it features over 100 human-sized corn statues. Locals call this site "Cornhenge," and it's plain to see why.
2. Set out to uncover the region's weirdest roadside attractions.
Cleveland's own Free Stamp marks an awesome place to begin this adventure, and there are plenty of weird destinations to travel to from there. From the Boy and the Boot in Sandusky to the Troll Hole Museum in Alliance, there are plenty of unusual places that you can visit at little or no cost. 3. Go on a photo-taking adventure in Ohio's own coastal New England town.
The incredible community of Put-in-Bay has the ambiance of a coastal town in New England, and it's too close to pass up an opportunity to visit. 4. Get to know your inner paleontologist at Fossil Park.
Tucked away in Sylvania, Ohio, is a gorgeous little park where carboniferous critters once dwelled. The Olander Park System's fossil park, located at 5675 Centennial Rd., Sylvania, is open to the public daily from 7:30 a.m. to dusk between April 11 and November 13. The best part? 8. Swing by the coolest pumpkin-themed festival in the nation this fall.
Each year, Circleville, Ohio throws the biggest annual pumpkin celebration in the country. Admission is free, allowing you to indulge a bit more on the important things like fair food (pictured).
