Once upon a time, the Tremont neighborhood started attracting residents. As it grew, its streets became lined with brick buildings and churches, some of which date back to the 1800s. Many of these buildings have hosted several businesses over the years, but can you imagine reentering an old funeral parlor and eating an indulgent meal there? Turns out, you can eat pizza in a former Tremont funeral parlor. Believe it or not, the building has a new life that’s energetic and innovative, and the two other concepts occupying this space have brought a totally new atmosphere to the old building. Check it out:
For many years, Tremont residents would stroll past 2258 Professor Avenue and gaze up at the old neighborhood funeral home.
Today, the old building houses a pizza shop and bookstore. Both, you'll find, are charming and welcoming. And, both are long-standing Cleveland businesses that locals love to support.

Upstairs is Visible Voice Books, a bookstore that has something for everyone.
You will find more exotic options like Spanish Chorizo, Spanakopita, and BBQ Brisket pizza at this charming eatery. Whether you enjoy a meal by the slice or order a whole pizza, you'll find that their prices are very fair.
At Visible Voice Books, visitors can retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. The building, amazingly for Tremont, has a 26-car parking lot to ensure visitors find an opportunity to visit these landmark businesses.
Both businesses share lower-level performance and patio space, so you'll most certainly want to swing by when the weather is most agreeable.
Proof Bar-BQ opened in March of 2020, and it has become a fan favorite for burgers and smokey meats. Their food is indulgent, but it's also perfectly reminiscent of backyard barbecues in the summer.
