Do you love antiques? Many areas surrounding Cleveland (such as Lakewood) are a haven to treasure hunters of every breed; however, it’s occasionally worth heading down south for an enhanced selection of antiques, oddities, treasures, and more. If you’ve never been to Medina, Ohio, you’ll be pleased to find that it is a historic community full of old homes and charming edifices; old buildings that have been filled with all sorts of antiques over the years.
Today, many of those antiques have found their way into local antique shops. While there’s much to see in and around Medina, there are five hot spots in particular that you need to visit… and they’re all clustered right around Medina Square for your convenience! Prepare to dive into an epic treasure hunt, because these Medina antique shops are calling your name.
No antiquing road trip in Medina County is ever complete without a visit to the local Antique Mall. This 52,000-square-foot destination could, quite honestly, eat up an entire day of shopping... there's that much to see. With around 500 vendors, you'll find nostalgia galore alongside collectibles, oddities, and an endless array of pre-1990s items of interest. In just one visit, you'll know why locals have cherished this easy-to-find spot for over two decades. Visit it at 2797 Medina Road, Medina, OH 44256.
Situated right next door to Root Candles is a fascinating little building that you could almost overlook... if its porch wasn't covered in eye-catching antiques, that is. Medina Depot Antiques is appropriately located in a former train depot that was built in 1894. It looks small from the outside, but its interior is something of a labyrinth of rooms. This place is truly filled to the brim with antiques from near and far, and the prices just might knock your socks off. Locals swear by this destination, and you'll surely fall in love, too. Find it at 602 W Liberty Street, Medina, OH 44256.
If you spend the day exploring in and around Historic Medina Square, you simply must take a short drive south and visit this incredible little antique shop. Court Street, the busiest street of Medina Square and the southern portions of a route that Clevelanders would know as Pearl Road, eventually turns into Wooster Pike. It's here that you'll find over 8,000 square feet of antiques at Brother's Antique Mall. Over 100 vendors offer goods here at any given time, and their offerings are amazingly eclectic. You never know what you'll find at Brother's! Pay it a visit at 6132 Wooster Pike, Medina, OH 44256.
After circa three decades of serving locals, Brother's Antique Mall expanded to a second location! Located on Pearl Road between Brunswick and Medina, this second shop is slightly different than its predecessor, but it's every bit as interesting. Brothers Antiques North is a slightly smaller building packed to the brim with antiques and upcycled art. As with its sister location down south (or should we say brother location?), you'll spot a porch that's overflowing with objects of interest before you even step over the threshold. This location, however, is situated a bit off the road near the bend by Timber Lodge, so you'll have to keep your eyes peeled for it. Go treasure hunting at 2768 Pearl Road, Medina, OH 44256.
Last but not least, Lyle's Jewelry & Coin is an antique-filled pawn shop located right on Historic Medina Square. While Medina Square has seen vendors come and go over the years, Lyle's has remained a familiar sight on the Square since 1980. Its owner and namesake, Lyle, has a life-long love of coins and takes great pride in helping you find the perfect item for your collection. If he doesn't have it in his shop, there's a chance he might know someone who can help you hunt down your dream collectible. Look for it at 4 Public Square, Medina, OH 44256.
Cleveland has its fair share of charm, but every so often it is worth heading south for a day trip to amazing fun attractions and a treasure hunt. Have you visited any of these Medina antique shops? Which is your favorite, and are there any others in the area that you’d recommend? Share your thoughts in the comments!
