The Ancient Forest Near Cleveland That's Right Out Of A Storybook

When we are talking about one of Northeast Ohio’s oldest forests, “ancient,” “pre-modern,” and “super-duper old” are all appropriate adjectives, and this one tucked away in the gorgeous North Chagrin Reservation has remained untouched for hundreds of years. Its landscape allows locals the opportunity to witness Ohio’s amazing landscape as it is meant to be seen.
At first glance, A.B. Williams Memorial Woods seems to be a forest just like any other.
A.B. Williams, the first naturalist of the Cleveland Metroparks, studied these woods in the 1930s and established the park district's first Trailside Museum.

You may notice some ginormous trees during your shaded stroll, as this forest contains trees that are at least 300 to 400 years old.
This pretty forest has roots that span hundreds of years, complete with trees that predate the founding of our country. Its wooded expanse offers a glimpse into what Ohio once looked like long before we left our mark on its dreamy landscape.
