Ohio’s Amish Country is full of charm. It’s located far enough away from Lake Erie, which is surrounded by land flattened by glaciers, for the landscape to be described as rolling. As you snake down its roads, you never quite know if the next view will be more scenic than the last. An Amish Country road trip from Cleveland is a right of passage for many locals, and it is a trip no Clevelander should go without experiencing at least once.

This scenic drive will take you to the very finest countryside communities.
You'll swing through Millersburg, Berlin, and Sugarcreek, known locally as Ohio's Little Switzerland. The latter stop is known for its massive cuckoo clock, which is said to be the largest in the world.

In addition to incredible scenery, the road trip accounts for landmarks and local places of interest that are worth visiting.
If you've never visited the Victorian House Museum in Holmes County, you are in for a treat. It is a magnificently preserved local landmark that offers a glimpse into the past... and it's said to be haunted by some of yesteryear's residents.

This road trip, depending on how much time you spend at stops, may take up to three days... so plan accordingly.
You may wish to segment your trip into several smaller day trips that can be visited at different points of the year, or you may wish to lodge overnight and do it all at once. You'll find some splendid places to stay in the area, including The Barn Inn and The Pine Loft & Maple Lane Farmhouse.

Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area is one of many magnificent landscapes you'll encounter along your journey. As the largest marshland outside of Lake Erie's immediate area, this is a true treat out in Wayne and Holmes Counties.
