If there is one sweet treat everyone can agree upon, it’s ice cream. Cincinnati is an ice cream-loving town and we have many options for both the hand-scooped and soft serve varieties, but when you’re in the mood for a cone topped with your favorite flavor (and when are you ever not in the mood?), there’s only one place to go for that classic ice cream parlor atmosphere. Aglamesis Brothers is a tiny ice cream and candy shop with locations in both Oakley and Montgomery, and it’s no secret that their homemade sweets are to die for.
Aglamesis Brothers is a locally owned, tiny ice cream and candy shop with its original location in the heart of Oakley.
The story of this east side gem dates all the way back to the late 1800s when Thomas Aglamesis left his home and Greece and settled in the Cincinnati area.
After his brother Nicholas joined him, the pair took all they learned from working at the Old Arcade downtown and opened their own ice cream shop in Norwood.
After a second location opened in Oakley and the Great Depression took its toll, the brothers sold the Norwood shop and renamed their exquisite Oakley location Aglamesis Brothers.

Not much has changed on the interior of this adorable and timeless ice cream parlor.
The Oakley shop remains true to its roots with the same floor, sculptured ceiling, and marble details. When you walk in, it's as if you've stepped back to an era when life was slower and all socializing happened at the neighborhood ice cream parlor.

In 1970, a second location opened in Montgomery and you can have a very similar nostalgic experience at this perfect little parlor.
In addition to their ice cream, this family-owned shop also creates delicious candies and treats, perfect for gifts, special occasions, or just a sweet tooth.
It is because of the love the community and the hard work of the Aglamesis family that this classic parlor remains in existence today. It's our (not so hard) job to continue to enjoy their sweet treats so that generations of Cincinnatians to come can fall in love with them too.
Aglamesis is more than just a favorite Cincinnati spot for ice cream and candies; it’s a beloved part of our city’s history. Have you tried the sweetness served up at this charming ice cream parlor? Share your favorite things about this local gem with us in the comments!
