Living in Cincinnati comes with its own traditions and nuances, many of which locals do without thinking much of them. There are places, foods, activities, and events that make our city unique and that also make it feel like home to those of us who live here. If you’ve lived in our city for a while and call yourself a true Cincinnatian, then chances are you’ve done these nine things at least once… and more likely several times throughout your lifetime.
Whether heading back from vacation or just a quick trip across the river, there's almost always traffic through this stretch of Cincinnati-area highway. At least this annoying ritual comes with one of the best views of the most beautiful skyline in the country.
Of course every true Cincinnatian has enjoyed some Skyline, but hopefully, you've taken it a step further and donned the bib. Since Skyline is practically fine dining in Cincinnati, you don't want to mess up those dress clothes while chowing down on cheese coneys.
Our beloved, historic bridge is currently closed due to an accident, but hopefully, every Cincinnatian has already enjoyed the experience of driving over this unique bridge. It's a one-of-a-kind experience for the sounds and views alone, and don't forget to walk across it once it reopens. That is a Cincinnati must!
If you have yet to visit Cincinnati's favorite hippo, then you should definitely plan a visit soon. Our premature princess is growing by the day, but thankfully still has plenty of her baby fat. Fiona and her mother Bibi quickly became legends over the past year when they captured hearts across the entire nation.
When those LaRosa's cravings hit, you better have a Buddy Card handy! Not only do they save you some money, but they typically ensure that you'll have leftovers. And what's better than leftover LaRosa's pizza for breakfast?
Unfortunately, we rarely cry tears of joy over our favorite Cincinnati sports teams. The playoffs are our nemesis... if we get there.... but we continue to love them through the tears.
This classic roller coaster is still a favorite at Cincinnati's favorite amusement park. It's fast, rickety, and nostalgic fun that every Cincinnatian has experienced at least once.
Or never moved at all! If you were born and raised in Cincinnati, then the city has likely worked as a magnet, drawing you back. Many locals have chosen to never leave - and for good reason! Our city is pretty awesome.
We love all of the traditions and quirks that make Cincinnati home! Have you done all of these things at least once? What else would you add to the list? Let us know in the comments!
