Troll Pub Is A Fun Themed Restaurant Near Cincinnati

For a unique dining experience, there’s little need to leave our delicious city, as we have several incredible restaurants right here in town. Many of them are not only tasty, but fun as well, and we’ve featured several of them previously here. However, sometimes you may find yourself beyond the city limits, and if you’re ever in the Dayton area and want to try something new and different, check out the Troll Pub. This unique eatery just opened this past spring and you’ll have a blast with the theme, food, and atmosphere at this restaurant just north of Cincinnati.

The concept of the Troll Pub began in Louisville and is a popular underground restaurant in Kentucky's largest city. When The Wheelhouse on the east side of Dayton began redevelopment, the Troll Pub found a new opportunity to bring its quirky dining fun to Ohio.

The Troll Pub calls itself a unique dining experience, and it definitely is. As you walk up to the restaurant, a friendly troll guides you to the door and is now one of the most popular photo op spots in the city. His goofy grin and playful nature are just clues as to what you'll find inside.

The Wheelhouse has an incredible history and Troll Pub has managed to repurpose and maintain so much of it. Tables are made out of the building's reclaimed wood and chandeliers were custom made out of wagon wheels to represent the building's history. It's a beautiful space and a great atmosphere in which to enjoy a meal.

You'll notice more and more interesting features of the interior as you relax at your table. The large dining area has a lively, laid-back feel, and is perfect for a fun night out, a family dinner, or even a playful date night.

The little touches throughout the restaurant make it unique, such as secret doorways disguised as bookcases. Make sure to walk around when you visit and check it all out.

While the theme and atmosphere are what initially draw you into the restaurant, the food is just as appealing. The large menu is filled with all of the pub favorites, many of which have a new, delicious twist.

You may not even make it off of the Starters portion of the menu, which is packed with savory treats. The Pot Roast Poutine (shown below) is a must-try, and the beer cheese and frickles are also delicious.

Troll Pub at The Wheelhouse is just an hour drive from Cincinnati and is really worth a visit. But if you need more reasons to head to this area, rest assured that this historic neighborhood of Dayton offers plenty of fun and makes for a great little visit to try something new, just outside of Cincinnati.
