Cincinnati and the surrounding areas may not be known as wine destinations, but in fact, they are. There are several wineries and vineyards throughout the Tristate and just beyond that, you could easily fill a few days with a trip to these scenic properties. If you venture out just a bit to Dearborn County in Indiana, be sure to include Holtkamp Winery and Vineyards on your list of must-visit destinations. This beautiful winery is off the beaten path, but so worth the journey from Cincinnati.
Holtkamp Winery and Vineyards is a family-owned destination in Dearborn County, just 45 minutes from Cincinnati. The winery was established in 2013 by a family that is passionate about wine, and they've created an incredibly successful business and gathering place.
The winery in Indiana is open year round (hours can be found here) for tastings and events, and the newly remodeled tasting room is a welcoming spot to enjoy their wines. During your visit, you'll be able to taste the wine, purchase your favorites, and take in the lovely rural property.
Despite the fact that Holtkamp Winery has only been in operation for five years, it is already award-winning. The passion and knowledge behind the growing of the grapes and the creation of the wines are evident in each sip, which is why they were named the Indiana Farm Winery of the Year in 2018.
The winery currently produces 16 varietals from their vineyards, with plans for more. They offer everything from dry and semi-dry red and white wines to sweet fruit and dessert wines.

During these events, the wine is, of course, the highlight, but food is also offered here. A variety of food trucks and pizza ovens typically serve up delicious meals to go along with your glass of wine.
In addition to the winery in Indiana, Holtkamp has also opened a tasting room on the west side of Cincinnati on Harrison Avenue! Here you can sample the same wines that are produced in Dearborn County, enjoy good conversation, and relax in a comfortable space that's delightfully decorated.
