The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is a great place to visit on any day, but it is especially fun when it’s hosting a special event or festival. This happens quite often, but they are introducing the new Monarch Festival to the line up this year.
The zoo has made pollination a priority recently and this Monarch Festival will celebrate the beauty and importance of these incredible butterflies. While you're waiting for September, also check out the Pollinator Carnival on June 22, 2019. You can learn more about that event here.
The Monarch Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 21st. The event is included with admission to the zoo and everyone will love the added features for this butterfly festival.
The event will celebrate the zoo's endeavors in pollination and the hard work of the beautiful Monarch butterfly. Families can learn about them, visit educational booths, tag and release a butterfly, and more.
As with many activities at the zoo, there will be many hands-on opportunities. The event will culminate with a Pollinator Parade, where children will "migrate" for the winter. It's going to be a fun way to learn about this incredible process in nature.
While you're there for the festival, walk around and check out everything else that's new and fun at the zoo. There may even be a baby giraffe or two to say hello to, as two of these beautiful mothers are due this summer!
And, of course, all of your favorite animals will be there to visit, as well as the activities, learning opportunities, and even the great food the zoo is known for.
