Gaslight Bar & Restaurant Is Best Library Bar In Cincinnati

It can be heartbreaking to watch a beloved, historic building to fall vacant and into disrepair. Unfortunately, this happens from time to time, so it’s always wonderful news when someone plans to come in, preserve the building, and give it a new life – all while maintaining its original character. This is exactly what happened when the Clifton Public Library moved to a new location. Its former spot on Ludlow Avenue is now a wonderful restaurant named Gaslight Bar & Grill, and this library bar in Cincinnati is every book nerd’s paradise.

Gaslight Bar & Grill is located on a well-known street corner in Clifton. It's surrounded by other shops and restaurants and was a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

If the front of the restaurant looks familiar, perhaps it's because it is housed in what was once the Clifton Public Library. This small library was a favorite destination for decades, so when it relocated to another spot, it was welcome news that the space would still serve a purpose.

The interior has been beautifully renovated, but still has a classic feel. The large windows allow this vibrant street to be on display, but the atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming.

Gaslight has maintained as much of the history of the building as possible, and the decor will not let you forget that this space was once a library. Be sure to take a close look at this piece, which is filled with pages from famous novels.

The art is not the only thing that has a library theme; the cocktail menu is filled with literary-inspired names and the eclectic crowd will remind you of the environment the library once had.

While you may be curious to see how the library physically transitioned into a restaurant, the food is what will truly surprise you. The lunch and dinner menus are divine and range from casual sandwiches to flavorful entrees. If you have trouble deciding based on the mouthwatering descriptions, go with the Chef's Choices.

If you visit for lunch, you will not leave hungry after enjoying a burger, sandwich, or entree. The Po’ Boy, shown below, is a must-try and may just be the best in the city.

The Clifton Branch Library was such a charming neighborhood destination that many were so sad to see go. Thankfully, a local bar and grill has moved in, maintained its character, and is now one of the best new restaurants in Cincinnati.

Gaslight Bar & Grill is a wonderful addition to one of Cincinnati’s most cherished streets. Ludlow has long been alive with diversity and character, and this restaurant that took over the former library is just a new kind of paradise.
