Cincinnati is perfectly positioned along the Ohio River in the Tristate area, so we can easily take advantage of all of the charming towns in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. We’ve previously shared one of our favorite riverfront towns in Kentucky that is ideal for a day trip, and now we are heading to Indiana and the historic town of Lawrenceburg. If you haven’t ventured west to this riverfront Main Street in a while, then it’s time to check it out, as the city has spent a lot of time and effort to revitalize the town and make it a spot you’ll want to visit time and time again.
Lawrenceburg, Indiana is located right on the Ohio River, just a 40 minute drive from Cincinnati.
It was a bustling river town in its earlier days, though the action died down in recent decades; however, the sleepy city has come back to life, especially its charming and historic downtown area. Thanks to passionate locals, the town has preserved much of its historic architecture and is now lovingly maintained and picturesque all year long.
Lawrenceburg's Main Street - which is actually called Walnut Street - and the surrounding area is a fun place to stroll, shop, eat, and end up right on the river for beautiful views of the water.
Any time is a great time to experience Lawrenceburg, but if you want to make the most of your visit, check it out on a Saturday when the town is holding one of its many festivals or events.

During the summer, one of the most popular events is Music on the River.
This annual summertime concert series happens every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. through August. Enjoy a cruise-in car show, food vendors, a beer garden, and free entry to the concerts.

For a small town, Lawrenceburg hosts a large number of events, festivals, and parades throughout the year. It's a festive city and its charming Main Street makes for the perfect backdrop.
This exhilarating cycling criterium hosted by Queen City Wheels follows a loop through downtown Lawrenceburg and will take place on July 21, 2018. You won't believe how fast these racers whiz by! After the races, there is a lively block party that will feature live music, food, drinks, and more.

Even if you're not here for an event, there's still plenty of love in Lawrenceburg.
This downtown bar and restaurant just added an outdoor patio, which is perfect for enjoying a drink and a bite to eat as you take in the views near the river. The Levee Breaker is located at 100 Vine St., Lawrenceburg, IN 47025.
Lawrenceburg may have flown under the radar for a while, but it's now shining bright and is a great spot for a day trip visit from Cincinnati.
Pick a day and head to the historic Main Street for great food, fun events, shopping, and a relaxing stroll along the Ohio River.
