Every city in the world has its pros and cons, as well as stereotypes that people assume to be true. Only locals know whether or not these rumors are indeed fact, and sometimes they definitely are. Cincinnati is a town filled with character, and at times controversy, making it a place that people love to gossip about. So we are here to set the record straight. Don’t believe all you hear, but you probably will agree with these eight brutally honest statements about Cincinnati that couldn’t be truer.
1. Our highways may be filled with potholes and construction, but our three ways are the best.
You can pretty much expect to run into countless potholes and road construction when you drive around Cincinnati... on your way to Skyline, of course. One bite of the Queen City's favorite dish can cure all of your highway woes.
Pretty soon there will be more local breweries in Cincinnati than there are LaRosa's! Our city has a rich history when it comes to the creating (and consuming) of beer, and we are now on the map as an ultimate brewery destination.
We can all hope this statement becomes untrue in the near future, but right now, it's pretty spot on. Each season the Bengals and Reds (and this year you can add UC and Xavier) either get our hopes up with a playoff run and then choke, or the season as a whole is just a flop. Despite this, another honest statement is that we will always love them, no matter what!

4. There really is a difference between the east side and the west side.
One of our recent articles struck up a debate as to what road divides the east and west sides of our city. Some say Vine Street, while others argue it's 75. Either way, this ongoing joke that these sides are opposites, is actually quite true. Now, we don't want to make either side mad by listing out the stereotypes (although, that may make for a fun article!), so let's just leave it at each area of town has their own special character.
Just the sight of black and yellow evokes feelings of anger for many Cincinnatians. We refuse to admit that the Steelers actually deserve all of those titles, and are much happier thinking that they are just the lowest team in the NFL.
6. We couldn't care less what is actually put in Goetta.
I remember growing up in Cincinnati and being told as a child that Goetta was made up of parts such as eyes, hooves, and other stomach-churning ingredients. And you know what? I didn't care. I'm not sure exactly which parts of animals end up in this mystery meat, but like many locals, it doesn't really matter. It's delicious, so serve it up with some eggs and hash browns and forget all about it.
No really, it is. That infamous Cincinnati haze appears in the summer and seems to keep us in a sweat trap for months. If you've ever been in Cincinnati during the summer, you've heard this statement, and probably more than once.
8. Cincinnati isn't as boring (or any other stereotype) as some may think.
For some reason, Cincinnati has had a bad reputation in the past. Outsiders comment on violence, racism, weird food, and our boring nature. Well, those people obviously haven't been to Cincinnati - and especially not recently! Every city has its issues, Cincy included, but the love for this town runs deep and we do not deserve to be called "Cinci-Nasty" or the "Nasty Nati" any longer.
The Queen City shines despite its faults and because of its character. What do you think of this list? Does it accurately describe Cincinnati? Anything you would add? Let us know in the comments!
And if you are from Cincinnati and grew up here, you have to check out these 9 weird side effects you likely experience, thanks to growing up in “the ‘Nati.” Read all about them here.
