Cincinnati has its fair share of ghost stories, some more well known than others. Of course, most these stories are generally known to be legends, meaning there is very little concrete evidence that ghostly happenings have actually occurred. But that doesn’t mean Cincinnatians don’t enjoy a good scary story. If you’re from Cincinnati, then perhaps you’ve heard of the legend of Lick Road and a girl named Amy. If you haven’t, then this story might very well give you nightmares.
Located just northwest of Cincinnati, Lick Road is a small, winding road off of Kemper.
The preserve is private property, so be respectful and keep that in mind. As legend has it, in this very spot, you might just witness the arrival of a ghost named Amy, who is said to appear in a number of different ways.
Some say that if you turn your car around, face Kemper Road, and flash your headlights three times, Amy will appear and approach your car. Legend also tells us that you might not see her, but she will let you know she is there by writing "Help me" on the condensation of your car windows.
The legend of Amy and Lick Road has been around for ages and is likely not going anywhere.
Since the story is quite popular, you'll likely see other ghost hunters if you try and seek out Amy. The police do monitor the area and it is surrounded by private property, so explore at your own risk. Besides, do you really want the nightmares that might come along with a visit from this legendary Cincinnati ghost?
Have you ever ventured down Lick Road? Can you provide any proof to this ghostly legend? Share your experience with us in the comments!
