Cincinnati hosts some of the best festivals in the country from our popular Oktoberfest in September to Taste of Cincinnati in May. We love to celebrate with lots of food, music, and a fun atmosphere that brings everyone together. You may or may not remember that back in the 90s, Cincinnatian Jim Tarbell hosted The Cincinnati Garlic Festival. It hasn’t happened in a while, but our city’s oldest tavern, Arnold’s Bar and Grill, is bringing it back this year. It will include garlic everything — think food, gelato, and even beer — and it’s bound to be a tasty time. The Cincinnati Garlic Festival is returning to town, so go ahead and get those breath mints ready.
Arnold's Bar and Grill dates back to the 1860s and remains a favorite dining destination in Cincinnati. There's always something going on at Arnold's with plenty of chances to hear live music or visit for a special event. But you may want to clear your calendar and grab your breath mints for May 31st and June 1st when The Cincinnati Garlic Festival returns to town.
This isn't a new event in Cincinnati, but it hasn't happened in more than 20 years. Arnold's thought it was time to revamp this tasty gathering and will work together with other local businesses to host this year's event.
During the festival, you'll be able to taste all things garlic. Following the rule that "You can never have too much garlic," the festival will even include garlic beer. Listermann Brewing Company, Fifty West, and Rhinegeist have each brewed a one-off garlic beer for the event.
Another unique find at the festival comes from Madisono's. They have created a garlic gelato that will be cold, creamy, and perfectly flavored with garlic.
If you don't want to stretch your taste buds, don't worry, there will also be more typical garlic-flavored foods. Wunderbar will have their garlic pretzels, there will be garlic soup from La Soupe, and garlic breads from Sixteen Bricks bakery.
And if you've ever shopped in Findlay Market, surely you've come across Avril Bleh Meat Market. The legendary butcher will be there with savory garlic sausages and meats.
Directly from the bar of Arnold's, order a garlic cocktail to go along with your food. The tavern will also serve a variety of appetizers, entrees, and desserts, all flavored by garlic.
As it is Arnold's, expect excellent live music and a fun, laid-back atmosphere. This Garlic Festival in Cincinnati is hopefully the rebirth of a tasty tradition and as you plan your visit on May 31st and June 1st beginning at 5 p.m., don't forget to stock up on breath mints.
It makes sense that this festival in Cincinnati would make its way back to the Queen City, as we love everything festive, food, and drink related. The Cincinnati Garlic Festival will have all of that and is sure to be a delicious, albeit smelly, good time. Will you head to Arnold’s for the Garlic Festival? Will you take a swig of garlic beer?
