The restaurants in Cincinnati that take up entire street corners, or maybe have flashy signs or an eye-catching exterior, obviously pull you in to see what they offer. But it’s important not to discount those smaller dining spots, the ones with the unassuming exteriors, or interiors that has just a handful of tables. Just because a restaurant doesn’t accommodate expansive crowds, doesn’t mean their food is any less stellar. There are several eateries in Cincinnati that prove this point and we’ve tracked down the best of them. This tiny hidden gem in Milford boasts some of the best barbecue in the city and it's now served from their new brick and mortar location. They were running their restaurant from a food truck, and you can find them in the same spot, but now with a door. Plan on getting it as takeout or on a nice day, enjoy your mouthwatering brisket on one of the picnic tables.
One of the most legendary Italian restaurants in Cincinnati, Scotti's is known as much for its cozy atmosphere as it is for its incredible, authentic food. You'll miss it if you're not looking, but you'll never miss it again after trying their stuffed lasagna.
3. Alabama Fish Bar — 1601 Race St., Cincinnati, OH 45202
Alabama Fish Bar is the small corner fish bar that has fans lined up out the door. The inside is pretty tiny (carryout only), but the fried fish waiting for you is worth any length of wait.
SENATE is a tiny restaurant that is big on flavor and unique creations. Their specialty is the hot dog, but you won't find it with just ketchup and relish. Try the Trailer Park version, and don't forget the Poutine!
This little gem in Clifton serves what many call the best Thai food in the city. Order anything on the menu — it's all good — but you'll probably want to take it to go, as there is just a little room inside to eat there.
Cheapside Cafe is a delightful little spot to begin your day with a perfectly made cup of a coffee and breakfast. It can only make this list for a little while longer, as there are plans in the works to expand the cafe to include more indoor and outdoor space over the next year.
Terry's Turf Club is an Eastern Avenue landmark for some of the best burgers in town. The dining area is small, but the atmosphere is lively and friendly and even if you have to stand around and wait on a seat, the large burgers and tasty fries are always worth it.
Asiana in Hyde Park recently renovated their small interior, and now the lovely atmosphere matches the beautiful food. If you're a fan of sushi, then Asiana will definitely not disappoint!
9. Red Squirrel — 918 Dalton Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45203
The Red Squirrel on Dalton Avenue is a lunchtime favorite for anyone who enjoys a good sandwich. This is a simple deli-style restaurant, with a basic menu of sandwiches, soups, and chips, but really, what else do you need for a satisfying lunch?
