If you’ve lived in Cincinnati for more than five minutes (or even if you’ve ever had a quick visit), chances are you’ve heard of Jeff Ruby. His Queen City restaurants are legendary and primarily known for the mouthwatering steaks. However, if you’ve ever dined at The Precinct, then you know there’s another star on the menu, along with the steak. The mac & cheese at this Cincinnati restaurant is some of the best in the world, and if you’ve never tried it, it’s time to dig in.
Jeff Ruby's Precinct is a beloved, longstanding steakhouse in Cincinnati that opened in 1981. Housed in the former Cincinnati Police Patrol House Number 6, its history is evident, but it's the building's current role as a restaurant that gets all the buzz.
The restaurant is made up of rooms that are expertly designed so that diners feel like they're receiving a private experience, yet they are also a part of the warm and elegant overall atmosphere. When you dine here, be sure to take the time to look around and notice all of the exquisite details.
The Precinct, as with other Jeff Ruby restaurants, is known for its steak. If you want to experience one of the best steaks in Cincinnati - if not the entire country - The Precinct will certainly deliver.
The Precinct is considered a fine dining experience, and many choose it for a special celebration. With a menu filled with perfectly cut and prepared steaks, seafood, and much more, it really is a Queen City eatery that everyone should try at least once.
If you take a look at the table below, you may notice that The Precinct includes potatoes with their incredible steaks. While it's a nice touch and they are definitely delicious, you'll also notice that there is a steaming hot crock of mac & cheese in the center of these tasty meals.
The mac & cheese must be ordered a la carte, but it is well worth the extra expense. It easily serves two (if not more) and is made with six imported cheeses and what can only be described as a touch of heaven.
This savory side is served in a cast iron dish, with a perfectly browned top and creamy, flavorful pasta hidden underneath. The exact recipe is kept secret, but it's safe to say you've never tasted anything quite like it. After a few bites, you'll almost forget you're sitting in a restaurant that's known for its steak.
The Precinct is one of many popular steakhouses in Cincinnati, but it’s the only one hiding a creamy, delicious secret. Its mac & cheese is arguably the best in the world, and once you’ve tried it, you’ll find it difficult to disagree. Have you been lucky enough to try Cincinnati’s most decadent side dish?
