Although the crazy Cincinnati weather may suggest otherwise, it is almost spring in the Queen City. Our city celebrates this new season with the excitement of warmth, flowers, baseball, and the opening of our favorite creamy whips. We all love a big scoop of Graeter’s Ice Cream, but there is something special about the large number of neighborhood soft serve destinations that are scattered around town. Believe it or not, some of these places have already began their season, so you’ll want to hit up these 7 tasty creamy whips in Cincinnati the second they open this spring – or right now!
Zip Dip is a westside favorite, right off of Harrison Avenue, and is one of the first creamy whips to open this year! The opening date was March 1st, so head there anytime and forget about the cold days that likely still lie ahead.
Putz's has been around since 1938 and is a Cincinnati tradition. They are ready to open on March 25th, and many are already counting down the days. It won't be long now until you can get in line for an ice cream cone or even one of their famous footlongs.
The Cone celebrates its 25th anniversary this year in West Chester and the season can't begin soon enough. You can't miss this cone-shaped creamy whip, and the ice cream is just the beginning of the tasty treats offered at this favorite local spot. They are hoping to open in a few weeks on March 29th!
Very soon, all of the customers of Mt. Healthy Dairy Bar will be as happy as the man in this photo. This neighborhood creamy whip will open sometime in March, so keep an eye on their Facebook page for an exact date.
If you live in Hamilton, then you are in luck! Flub's Dari-ette opened for the season on March 1st, which means you can already get their famous soft serve, shakes, smoothies, sundaes, and more. Ignore the cold and visit this longstanding local creamy whip.
As Northern Kentucky's favorite creamy whip, Silver Grove Dari Bar is a must visit the second it opens. This year, that will happen on March 16th, so mark your calendar and get ready to enjoy ice cream smiley faces, sundaes, hot dogs, and more.
There is already a reason to celebrate in Loveland because Loveland Dairy Whip has also reopened for the season. Pay no mind to the weather and walk on up to the window, or if you must, drive through, and order your favorite ice cream cone from this family-owned favorite.
These seven creamy whips are some of the best in the city and a sweet way to celebrate the arrival of spring in Cincinnati. Did your favorite make the list and is it already open? Will you visit, despite the cold weather? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
