It’s not difficult to find a delicious burger in the city of Cincinnati, especially with so many favorite local eateries that grill up some of the best you’ll find anywhere. But, it’s only fair to share the love and ensure everyone knows about every single burger joint in our area, and if you have yet to try Bard’s Burgers & Chili in Northern Kentucky, then you’ll want to reprioritize your dining options. The best burgers and chili are hiding in this dive restaurant and it’s just a few minutes from Cincinnati.
Bard's Burgers & Chili is located right across the Ohio from Cincinnati in Covington/Latonia. If you're not looking for its small sign, you'd likely drive on by the deliciousness hidden inside.
While they call themselves a "dive" and could probably still be considered a hidden gem, plenty of people have discovered the mouthwatering food at Bard's. It's been featured on The Food Network, pretty much every local news station, and was doing well enough that it recently expanded its interior restaurant space.
While it still has that local, laid-back appeal, Bard's is now a spacious restaurant, complete with a bar and more tables to accommodate all of the hungry visitors.
Bard's has a long list of specialty burgers to choose from, including the Fire Burger (shown below). Each burger comes with a half order of fries, or you can upgrade your side to any number of other options. If you really want to treat yourself, pair it with the poutine, which is a pile of fries topped with fresh cheese curds and gravy.
This burger restaurant is also known for its chili, and it ranks right up there with other Cincinnati favorites. It's made fresh, the cheese is grated by hand, and you can get it as a 3-way, coneys, or in a bowl all on its own.
The best and worst part about Bard's is deciding what to order. Of course, the burgers and chili are a must, but it doesn't stop there. The fried cheese curds, shown below, are made from Wisconsin cheddar and are so popular that they often sell out. Other menu favorites include fried pickles, fried Oreos, and the famous Donut Burger, in which a burger is sandwiched between a glazed donut.
Bard's Burgers & Chili has the perfect formula for the ultimate dive restaurant. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is laid back and welcoming, and there's plenty of local flair. Head across the river as soon as possible and support this local gem with a mouthwatering burger, an order of cheese curds, and a cold glass of local beer to wash it all down.
Bard’s Burgers & Chili is truly a “dive that’s worth the drive,” and luckily for us, it’s just a short drive across the river from Cincinnati. Have you tried this local hidden gem yet? What was your favorite thing on the menu? Tag all of your burger and chili-loving friends and go check it out!
