Cincinnati is right across the river from Kentucky, which means we are also right across the river from Bourbon Country. The Bluegrass State is famous for its Bourbon Trail, but to try to tackle it from Cincinnati takes a decent amount of time, as most of the stops are at least an hour away. However, you can now take an authentic bourbon tour just minutes from downtown. The B-Line is a self-guided tour that leads you to the best distilleries, bars, and restaurants in Northern Kentucky, and you’ll want to take this fun-filled tour that’s even closer to the Queen City.
The Bourbon Trail in Central Kentucky is a popular weekend getaway from Cincinnati and it's interesting for both bourbon-lovers and those who just enjoy experiencing something new. If you've ever been intrigued by the idea of the Bourbon Trail, then you'll want to take the B-Line, a self-guided Bourbon Tour through Northern Kentucky.
This tour includes three distilleries, five bars, and four restaurants that all focus on the art of making and serving bourbon. The hub for the tour is New Riff Distilling in Newport (shown below).
New Riff Distilling is a craft bourbon distillery and a beautiful facility to visit. It's a great spot to begin the tour and take a tour of their process.
Tastings are available, of course, and the space is large enough that you could gather with a big group to begin your day of bourbon fun in Northern Kentucky.
When you’re ready to take the tour, click here to download your passport. Each stop is listed and if you meet the requirements, you can win a prize. You must visit at least two distilleries on the list to complete the tour. Another excellent stop is Boone County Distilling Co. (shown below).
The Old Pogue Distillery is a bit further (in Maysville), but also worth a visit. It's very different from the other two we mentioned, and Maysville is also an ideal spot to spend the night if you want to turn the tour into a weekend getaway.
There are five bars on the tour, all with a very impressive selection and knowledge of bourbon. They range from small, local spots to larger locations, and the Prohibition Bourbon Bar (shown below) is definitely a must-visit.
The best tours always offer good food, and the B-Line is no exception. There are four participating eateries and they include high caliber dining destinations, such as The Tousey House Tavern (shown below). You can learn more about this classic restaurant here.
You can begin your adventure on the B-Line by visiting its website here. Whether you choose one or two stops, or fill up the entire passport, go and enjoy yourself on this unique bourbon experience near Cincinnati.
