I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
When the weather gets warm and the sun is shining, we may get that itch to get out, get in our cars, and take a short road trip somewhere. Make sure to gas up your car before you hit the road to Bones' Burgers. This eatery is known for making burgers with fresh, local grass-fed Angus beef and locally-grown seasonal produce.
With a wide selection of burgers and sides, you will not leave Bones' Burgers hungry. Choose from ¼-lb, ⅓-lb, or ½-lb Angus patties, a house-made veggie or turkey burger, or a patty made with wild-caught salmon. There's an option here for everyone.
Order one of the Specialty Burgers or create your own from the lengthy list of toppings.

If you want to pair your burger with a side (who wouldn't?), choose from parmesan cheese fries, chili cheese fries, sweet potato fries, chili, or a salad. Wine and domestic and craft beers are also on the menu if you want to further indulge.
This restaurant is closed on Mondays and hours are Tuesday through Sunday from noon until 8 p.m., so plan accordingly. The menu and location information can be viewed on the Bones' Burgers website.
Now that you've fueled your body with a juicy, flavorful grass-fed burger and a side of fries, it's time to head out to your next location for some exercise and fresh air. After a quick drive, you'll arrive at Sharon Woods, a 730-acre park with a vistors center, gift shop, childrens play area, and both paved and unpaved trails. The park is known for its multitude of waterfalls and it's where you'll hike the Gorge Trail.
Be prepared to pay a day permit fee of $3 per Hamilton County resident and $5 per non-resident.
Sharon Woods Gorge Trail is an easy 1.8-mile out-and-back trail with moderate foot traffic and some inclines, but overall only a 131-foot elevation gain. Although it can be used year-round, the best months for hiking here are April through September.
You'll start off along a boardwalk before venturing off onto the nature trail that will lead you through wooded areas, along a creek, and past picturesque waterfalls that you will want to spend some time marveling at.
You will also encounter the large arched stone bridge and the Sharon Lake Dam, both impressive sights in themselves. And watch out for fossil remains of prehistoric animals which are abundant in this area. This is the perfect nature hike for children to experience.
Since the hike isn't all that long, make sure you stop and spend some time taking in the gorgeous scenery around you! Click here for a map of Sharon Woods from the Great Parks of Hamilton County website. You can view more information on the Gorge Trail itself on AllTrails.
