The craft beer movement has been steadily sweeping the nation and nowhere is that more apparent than here in Ohio. We have an incredible selection of local breweries and taprooms to choose from, and each offers something unique. Take Brewfontaine in Downtown Bellefontaine, Ohio for example. What used to be an iconic 1950s diner has been transformed into one of the liveliest hangout spots in the region. Visitors can look forward to delicious eats, handcrafted cocktails, wine on tap, and a beer list that’s constantly rotating. This fantastic combination has earned Brewfontaine the ranking of the #1 Beer Bar in Ohio.
The year was 1950. A resident by the name of Nick Johnson opened Johnson's Deli, whose sandwiches became a staple of the community. The building closed in 1983, but today it holds a new local favorite: Brewfontaine.
Located in the heart of Downtown Bellefontaine, Brewfontaine is the perfect spot to grab a drink, enjoy a delicious bite, and catch up with friends and neighbors.
The bar features a spacious all-weather heated patio outside to ensure that the party keeps going even in the coldest weather.
This beloved craft beer bar is home to an impressive selection of 16 beer taps and 4 wine taps. That's right -- you can enjoy wine poured directly from a tap!
Additionally, there are over 40 different bottles and cans to choose from. The rotation changes constantly, so there's always something for every preference.
If it's your first time visiting, be sure to order a round of the Signature Pretzels. These mustache-shaped treats are made in-house and are served with a side of Saucy Sows Sweet Pepper Mustard, made locally in Jackson Center, Ohio.
The mustache shape pays homage to the Bellefontaine Body Bearders Club.
There are plenty of options on the menu that will pair perfectly with your drink of choice. The house sandwich is called the Mama Johnson, in honor of Nick Johnson's mother.
All sandwiches are served with Mumford's potato chips, made in Urbana, Ohio, and a house-made IPA beer pickle. These pickles are so popular that many people stop by just to order them!
There's also a rotating dessert menu that will surely satisfy your sweet tooth. House-made cheesecake, anyone?
