Ohio is known far and wide for its amazing array of donuts — Butler County is home to its very own Donut Trail, in fact! These delightful and delectable treats aren’t hard to find, and I’d be doing a disservice to the many deserving donut shops in Ohio by playing favorites. However. There is one little donut shop in the state that’s in a league of its own when it comes to these handheld treats: Bill’s Donut Shop in Centerville, Ohio.
There's donuts and then there's Bill's donuts, and anyone who's visited Bill's Donut Shop in Centerville, Ohio, will tell you there's a difference...
Bills opened in downtown Dayton in 1960 and has been a local favorite in the almost 65 years since. The bakery has been at its current location, 268 N Main Street in Centerville, since 1979.
It's also known, of course, for churning out what are easily among the best donuts in Ohio. (I won't play favorites here, but I will say that I have tried these donuts and they hold a very special place in my heart.)
In fact, it's this attention to detail and quality that's earned Bill's Donut Shop nods from USA Today, "Saveur" and "People" magazines, and even Ellen DeGeneres on her eponymous talk show!
Not one to rest on its laurels, Bill's is always pushing the boundaries of what donuts can be. If you're bananas for bananas, the specialty banana cake and banana cream confections will steal your heart. They've also added danishes, buckeyes, cupcakes, cookies, and cappuccinos to the menu, AND now accept credit cards, which was big news!
In fact, Bill's Donut Shop has long been a local favorite for all sorts of celebrations, whether it's a birthday or anniversary, or mere Monday in need of a little pick-me-up.
So… have you had the pleasure of enjoying the headliner at Bill’s Donut Shop? These donuts are so darn delicious and delectable that, be warned: you’ll be ruined for life after trying them! Worth it, though.
